How to create a custom welcome message.

This article describes exactly how you can make your computer welcome you in your own custom message, and also allow you to change the voice used.
Easy to follow instructions:

  • Open notepad.
  • Copy and paste the exact code given below.

  • Replace Username with your own name or type any custom greeting message inside the double quotes on a single line.
  • Click on File –> Save As..  And select “All Types” in the “Save as Type” option.
  • Save the file as Welcome.vbs

Windows XP:

  • Copy the saved file to ‘C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersStart MenuProgramsStartup’

Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8:

  • Copy the saved file to ‘C:Users{User-Name}AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup’

Note: AppData is a hidden folder, in order to view it:

  • Press the “Alt” button on your keyboard while inside the parent folder.
  • Select “Tools” –> “Folder Options” from the menu.
  • Click on the “View” tab and enable the “Show hidden files, folders, and drives” option.

The next time you start your computer, Windows will welcome you in your own custom computerized message.

Note: For best results, it is recommended to change the sound scheme to No Sounds.

You can change the sound scheme to No Sounds by following the steps given below:

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Switch to Classic View.
  3. Sounds and Audio Devices.
  4. Click on the Sounds Tab.
  5. Select No Sounds from the Sound Scheme option.
  6. If you wish to save your Previous Sound Scheme, you can save it by clicking Yes in the popup menu.
  7. Click on OK.
